Cathy Harkey, M Ed: Owner and Manager
Celebrating her 32nd anniversary in educational consultation, Cathy Harkey attended UNC-Greensboro, UNC-Chapel Hill, University of Virginia, and Duke University. She has taught in the NC public school system, at several private schools, and has served as an Assistant Professor in the departments of Education and Pediatrics at Duke University. Cathy developed the Hill Center in Durham, now integrated with Durham Academy. She assisted in the development of the Piedmont Center in High Point and the Achievement School in Raleigh in addition to numerous other private programs now offered throughout the state of North Carolina. She has served on Boards and held major offices in the LDA (Learning Disabilities Association), CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention Defecit/Hyperactive Disorder), and the Orton Society, now known as the International Dyslexia Society.

Heather Allmond, BS Mathematics:
Tutor and Administrator

Heather Allmond joined the staff of Educational Consultants, Inc. in September of 2008. A native of North Carolina, she graduated from Meredith College with BS in Mathematics, and a BA in Religion, with a minor in Chemical Physics and is currently pursuing a Master's from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She taught high school level mathematics for two years before coming to graduate school and currently teaches mathematics at UNCG. She tutors middle and high school-aged students in mathematics and physics, as well as SAT and ACT prep.

Mike Evans, MM Music & Economics: Tutor

Mike Evans joined the staff of Educational Consultants, Inc. in September 2003. A native of Greensboro, he completed a Bachelor's degree in chemistry (UNC-Chapel Hill, '81), and completed Master's degrees in music (Indiana University, '93) and economics (UNC-G, '96) where he also served as instructor of statistics. Mike has been tutoring students from elementary grades to college level in mathematics, statistics, chemistry, economics and music theory since 1985. A former faculty member of the Music Academy of NC, he currently teaches piano at his home.

Belinda Walzer, MA English Rhetoric and Composition:
Tutor and Administrator

Belinda Walzer is presently a graduate student in English at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro pursuing her PhD. She has been working with Educational Consultants, Inc. as a tutor and an administrator since April of 2005. Belinda coordinates scheduling in the mornings and tutors students in English, Writing skills and Language Arts. After graduating from Ohio Wesleyan University with a BA in both English and Environmental Studies, she moved to North Carolina to attend UNCG. Belinda's previous teaching, tutoring and mentoring experience has ranged from teaching horse riding to tutoring and mentoring grade-schoolers to tutoring for a non-profit program. She looks forward to teaching writing at UNCG in the Fall.

Brandon Beck, BA Economics: Tutor
Brandon Beck joined Educational Consultants in October 2005. A native of Winston Salem, he graduated summa cum laude from UNC-Greensboro in 2005 with a B.A. in Economics. Currently, he is pursuing an M.A. in Applied Economics. He tutors high school and college students in the mathematical, financial, and social science fields.


Megan Eatman, BA English Language and Literature:
Tutor and Administrator

A Raleigh native, Megan graduated summa cum laude from UNC-Greensboro in May 2006 with a double major in English and Spanish. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Megan worked as a teaching assistant and tutor for Conservation Biology 105 as well as a tutor for all levels of Spanish. She currently tutors English (literature, grammar, and writing skills) and Spanish. She plans to begin a doctoral program in Comparative Literature in fall of 2007.
